Common Questions:

How do I set up my email accounts?
Check out the tutorial on setting up your email addresses with our control panel. The tutorial also contains step by step instructions for configuring your email software such as Netscape or Outlook Express so that you can read and send mail.

Why can't I send mail using your server?
Our mail server does not allow relaying, it only accepts messages destined for one of our customers. Relaying means accepting a message from one computer, and passing it on to another external computer. We disallow relaying to reduce spam. Your dialup provider should provide you with an SMTP server that you can use to relay your mail.

How do I upload my website?
If you are using FrontPage, please view the FrontPage tutorial for step by step directions.

The other methed is to use an FTP program to upload your files. If you don't already have an FTP program, check our downloads section. Once you've gotten your ftp program connected, be sure to place your files in the pages folder. For more detailed FTP instructions, please view the FTP tutorial.

I uploaded my website, but why doesn't it show when I enter my URL?
Make sure that you placed your files in the pages folder. Make sure you named the default file you want to appear index.html. If you're using FrontPage, be sure you followed the FrontPage tutorial exactly.

What are all those folders in my pages directory?
_private _vti_bin _vti_cnf _vti_log _vti_pvt _vti_txt

These folders are part of the FrontPage extensions. If you are not using FrontPage to create or maintain your pages you can delete these. They will not affect the performance of your site if left in place.

How do I view my usage statistics?
There is a file in your pages directory called usage.html. This file contains the statistics on your web site. To view it, go to http://www.yourdomain.com/usage.html. Warning: if you remove the usage.html you will no longer be able to view your statistics, nor will anyone else. Unless you are not interested in seeing statistics, do not remove the usage.html file from your pages folder.

How do I make my Real Audio files work?
You must have a hosting package that includes the Real Audio server. If you have Real Audio support, there will be a folder in your home directory called realcontent (outside of the pages folder).

Put your real audio file in the realcontent folder, then make your .ram file follow this format: pnm://<domain name here>/<username here>/<filename here>

Let's use the example: audio.ra, your domain name is acme.com, and your username is acme:
pnm://www.acme.com/acme/audio.ra
is the content of your .ram file.
